Mtsa O. AUom, of .Havelock North, is on ■ holiday in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs, J. Wiggins, of Wellington, are visiting Christchurch. Miss Jessie McKenzie, of Wellington, has been visiting the West Coast glaciers. Misses Hutchison, who recently arrived from England, are the guests of Dr. and Mrs. Hutchison at Petone. Mrs. Maunder, of Dower Hutt, is the guest of Mrs. Preston-Thomas at Hastings. Miss Jocelyn Riddiford. of Lower Hutt, has been visiting Mrs. P. J. Herrick, in Hawke's Bay. Mrs. Batchelor and Mrs. Wilson, of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs. E. Wighton in Sydney. Mrs. J. A. Tripe, who was the guest of Mrs. G. Tripe at Hawke's Bay. has returned to Wellington. ' Mrs. E.. J. Cordner, who has been the guest of Mrs. Hughes Steele, has returned to Christchurch. The Gore women’s clubs recently opened new rooms, the ceremony being performed by Lady Ferguson, president of the Otago Women’s Club. . Mrs. C. Tipping, of Wellington, and her daughters, have taken Mrs. CoiflptonSmith’s house at Havelock North for a month. .

As a wind-up to the year’s operations a very pleasant function was held a,t th« Masonic Hall, Newtown, oh Wednesday last by members of Mrs. Mildred Kenny’s mandolin and guitar orchestras. These two bands have appeared regularly in support of various charitable concerts during the past year. The evening was occupied with instrumental items, songs, elocutionary items, competitions, and dancing. An annual effort was made in Queen Street, Masterton, on Wednesday by the women of the Congregational Church Guild, who were well rewarded by an excellent sale of goods. The stalls were all well laden, while brisk business was done all day. Morning and afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. Haycraft. Sir. Haycraft donated a fireside stool, which was won by Mrs. J. Jenkin. A Christmas cake donated by Mr. Wray went to Mrs. Brown.
