NATIONAL RESERVE

The members of the various branches of the Women's Reserve that help the Residential Nursery decide themselves what special need they will supply. Iks method answers well and prevents overlapping. The Berhampore branch helps with the sewing equipment; they not only do the sewing but they provide the material for their own work. This year they have made 220 articles. They have also equipped their own ward at the nursery. Various efforts' have been arranged by the committee and have been most successful, £3B/5/8 being raised for the year ended October 31. Mrs. Beales was re-elected president at the annual meeting. Vice-presidents: Mesdames Watt. Moore and Chatfield, sen. Secretary : Mrs. Collyer (re-elected). Treasurer: Mrs. Chatfield. Committee: Mesdnines Moore. Chatfield. IVilliamson, Swainsort, McMillan. Hampton. Barrett, McMahon, Marshall and Jansen. Mrs. Beales and Mrs. Collyer were presented with crystal vases on behalf of the committee. and Mesdatnes Beales and Porter with bouquets. ' The president in responding expressed heartiest appreciation of the co-operation of the officers and committee, whose everready help meant so much to the success of the branch. On behalf of the executive Mrs. Porter thanked all. Afternoon tea was served by the committee. ■Melrose Branch. The Melrose branch has also had _ a very successful year, £24/1/6 being raised for the eight .months ended October 31. This branch provides all the tea used nt the nursery and has donated £2 to the Christmas cheer fund and helped in numerous ways. The following officers were elected: President. Mrs. A. F. Tonks; vice-president. Mrs. F. Boyd; secretary, Mrs Brooker; committee. Mesdames Bovd. Zantuck. Harris. Tonks, Brooker, Williamson. Duff and Lamb. Several very successful efforts have been carried through by the committee, the executive expressing greatful thanks to all for their willing and able help and their optimistic spirit in face of grave difficulties that had been faced this year owin'* to sickness, etc. Khandallah Branch The annual meeting of the Khandallah branch was held recently, Mrs. Porter presiding. Mrs. G. B. Gibbons, the retiring president, handed Mrs. Porter a beautiful bouquet. The secretary read the report and balance-sheet, which was very satisfactory. , . The retiring president was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks for all the work done. Mrs. J. G. Smith was unanimously elected president. Mrs. Gibbons thanked the committee and secretary for their loyal co-operation in all work undertaken by the branch. The following committee were then elected: —President, Mrs. J. G. Smith, vice-presidents, Mrs. I’. Bennett, Mrs. A. B. Gibbons, Mrs. R. B. Gibbons, Mrs. H. E. Nicholls. Mrs. A. Seed; committei.
