NOISY EFFICIENCY

Antiquated Motor-cars “OLD CROCKS’ RACE” HELD London, November 24. A noisy but triumphant de Dietrich racing Textor car, built in 1903, won “the Old Crocks’ Race.” It covered 561 miles in 83miu. 55sec. A 1903 Mercedes followed 31 minutes later. A Daimler, built in 1596, also finished, though it lost a tire and broke the chain of the drive on three occasions. Apart from the abolition of speed limit, the event was organised to celebrate tbe death of the Red Flag Law, in 1896, which forced engined vehicles on the roads to be preceded by a red flag.
