Ceremony at Town Hall By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, November 26. A formal ceremony to celebrate the proclamation of Invercargill as a city was held in the entrance to the Town. Hall this afternoon. The mayor, Mr. J. D. Campbell, presided over a large attendance, which included members of the city council and many ex-mayors and councillors. Speeches of congratulation were delivered by the Hou. I’. A., de la Ferrells, Minister of Infernal Affairs, who represented the Government, and the Hon., J. A. Hanan, for many years' representative of Invercargill iu Parliament, and a former mayor. At the conclusion of the speeches the mayor handed the mayoress a small golden key with which she unlocked the doors covering an inscribed stone laid in the right-hand wall entrance to the building. ; 11 "j ,
