OXFORD EIGHTS
Wellington Oarsman SELECTED FOR TRIALS London, November 24. Tlie Oxford rowing trial eights include the New Zealander, Mr. J. F. Platts-Mills, of Wellington. Mr. John Platts-Mills, who is the son of Dr. Platts-Mills, was educated at the Terrace and Karori Schools, afterwards entering Nelson College. In 1919 he won a Junior National Scholarship, and a year later, a Senior scholarship. In 1921, he matriculated, and three years later won a Junior University Scholarship. Entering Victoria University College, he qualified for the LL.B, degree hi 1927. in which year he won a Rhodes Scholarship. He won the Plunket Oratory Medal in 1926. gained Victoria College Blues in athletics, boxing and Rugby, and was a member of the winning team at the first inter 'Varsity boat rime, and ho hnt> also repre '■ented tlie Star Boating Club in the eights. He is a member of the Oxford University Air Squadron.
