Misses Warren have returned to Palmerston North from a short visit to Wellington. % Mrs. Gray, of Kelburn, Wellington, is spending a holiday in Palmerston North. Mrs. A. C. Bradfield, of Palmerston North, has* been appointed judge of the decorative sections of the Levin and Rongotea Horticultural Society shows. A party of young people recently paid a surprise visit to the residence of Mrs. Rose at Awapuni. The evening was spent in dancing and games, and an exciting “treasure 1 hunt.”
On Wednesday afternoon opportunity was taken by women members of the Manawatu Golf Club to present Mrs. L. Seifert, who is giving up her duties as secretary, after holding that position for seven years, with a beaten stiver rose bowl and fruit dish.
Miss Peggy Bagnall, of the nursing staff of the Wellington Public Hospital, is spending her annual vacation in Palmerston North with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Bagnall. 1
Mr. and Mrs. T. Rhodes, formerly of Wanganui, are revisiting 'the city, prior to taking up residence in Havelock North. Mrs. J. T. Ward, Wanganui, was hostess during the. week at an enjoyable “gift” evening, given in honour of Miss Doris Dempsey and Mr. XV. Chardlow. who are being married shortly. Lady Burdett and Misses- Burdett, formerly of XVanganui, are at present in Paris, and intend leaving for Nice next month.
Miss Alex. Strachan is visiting Mrs. W. B. Strachan, Turakina. On December 10 a “coster” ball will be held in the Drill Hall.' XVanganui, in aid of various charities. The following committee will be responsible for the function:—Mesdames A. E. Cowper, A. Wilson. W. Izard. T. L. Sperrlng, D. Wilson, M. Earle, G. Currie, H. Piaui, R. Orton. F, Hutchinson. H. D. Robertson, A. Hatrick, Captain Messrs. Bridgeman, and Hassall.
Miss I. Watson, New Plymouth, is the guest of her aunt. .Miss Kelly, Patea. Miss Brown, Invercargill, is the guest of Mrs. Brown, Durie Hill, Wanganui. Mr. R. J. Jackson has returned to Wanganui from Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Cuthbertson, Wanganui, have returned from Rotorua. Mrs. XVasher and Miss Washer, Hawera, are the guests of Mrs. L. Duigan, Wanganui.
Mrs. Hunter, senr., Porongohau, who has bgen visiting Mrs. G. Hunter, Wanganui, has returned. Mr. and Mrs. Bethel, Wellington, are the guests of their daughter, Mrs. S. E. Cooper, XVanganui East. Mrs. Janet Higgle, Wicksteed Street, Wanganui, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Davis, Christchurch, are visiting Wanganui. Mrs. Bruce McNlven, Wanganui, is an inmate of Belverdale Private Hospital. Mrs. W. E. Reynolds is a Dunedin visitor to XVanganui. Mrs. Burrell, Wanganui, has been appointed matron at the Friends’ School, XVanganui. Miss Cowlands, England, is the guest of Mrs. K. James, Kai Iwi, Wanganui. Mr. A. Williamson gave an interesting lecture to members of the Literary and Dramatic Circle of the Lady Jellicoe Club, XVanganui, recently on Richard Burton, cxnlorer and traveller. Mr. J. M. Buchanan is a Masterton visitor to XVanganui. , ... Mr. and Mrs. D. Thomas and Miss Thomas are Auckland visitors to Wanganui.
