Miss Amy Phillips, of Feilding, will return tiome this week from a .visit to relatives in the South Island. Miss Struan Macpherson, of Langston Avenue, Palmerston North, will leave on Friday for -“The Chateau, Tongariro,” National Park.

Mrs. Mackenzie Forbes has returned to Palmerston North after a short visit to her daughter, Mrs. Gregor Mackenzie, of Waipukurau. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Carter, of Amesbury Street, Palmerston North, have returned from a short visit to Plimmerton. Mrs. E. C. Crosse, Broadway Avenue, Palmerston North, who celebrated her hundredth birthday on July 18, is at present seriously indisposed. About a fortnight ago Mrs. Crosse contracted bronchial trouble, but she is not confined to her bed.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Mathewson have taken up their residence in Palmerston North. Before they left Hastings members of the Hastings Croquet Club gave an afternoon tea party at the Ritz to bid tarewell to Mrs. Mathewson, who was a popular member of the club. Mrs. W. Bndg* man, president, in presenting the guest of honour with a bronze vase, expressed the club’s regret at losing Mrs. Mathewson. Mrs. E. Mr. and Mrs. D.-Wylie, of Gonville, Wanganui, entertained a number of friends recently in honour of the marriage of Miss M. Cleeve. The party was a gift evening. Miss Clceve’s future home will be in Hastings. The Aramoho Boating Club Hall, Wanganui, was crowded last Thursday evening, when the Aramoho School held a successful fancy dress social. The programme consisted of country dances, historical, fancy, paper, national and original dress parades, club-swinging, mouth organ selections, etc. . Balloons, streamers, mirrors and fern macle the Waverley Town Hall very pretty for the recent golf ball. The supper room was decorated in tones of yellow with Iceland poppies and spring flowers. Masterton ladies should on no account fail to visit the great exhibition of highgrade Russian and Canadan Furs which is at present being held in the Central Arcade Hall (upstairs) for a few days only.
