OVERSEAS NOTES

Mrs. M. E. Green, J.P., Miss E. Hooton, and Miss Mary Holman. M.L.A., were representatives from West Australia to the second Federal conference of the Labour Women of Australia, held at Canberra. At present in Australia, where she intends staying for about year, is Miss Eleimore lange, of Frankfurt, Germany, ,who founded the system of education known as the Roederberg Reform Schule. This system provides a specific type of education for children from the ages of 6 to 16, and Miss lange hopes to establish it in Australia for students between 16 and 21. Miss lange is also a sculptor, and while in Australia she will probably do some work in that branch of her profession.

Mayfair jewellers are displaying exquisite handbags in their showrooms. The mode of the moment is that the handbag should match the gown, the shoes, or the jewellery. Now that jewellery, is being worn with every kind of outfit, it is ofteneasier to match one’s handbag with one’s jewels. The jewelled handbag is more often , than not fashioned of soft black antelope, and this makes a charming background for precious and semi-preci-ous stones set in the clasp. These clasps are made in stones of all kinds, from the richest red coral to the palest blue chalcedony. , ■ ■ , ■' t It is not generally known that Princess, Elizabeth and the two young sons of Princess Mary are to be found very frequently playing in Hyde Park.
