LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE
New Steamer Matai London, July 24. Captain William Manning will take out on July 31 the twin-screw lighthouse steamer and general service tender Matai, built at Hebburn-on-Tyne, for New Zealand sailing via Panama at a reduced speed of nine knots. An echo-sounding machine and wireless are installed, and there is a cabin for the Governor-General’s suite.
