MARSDEN ASSEMBLY HALL
With the idea of helping the parents’ association to obtain the necessary stage curtains tor the new assembly nail at Marsden School, a number of interested amateurs assisted by well-known proles* sionals, have arranged a unique programme for Thursday next, July 31. Miss Ava Symons, an "old girl” of the school, is responsible for halt an hour's music, her party consisting of: Mrs. Phil Nathan, Mrs. Hector, Miss Hilda Chudley, and Miss Prudence Lewis, in addition to herself. Mr. W. A. Whitlock, wellknown a year or two ago as a member of “Charities Unlimited” in Christchurch, is giving a recitation; and Miss Peggy Welch, a pupil of Miss Estelle Beere. will present a pas seul “Poor Pierrot.” A special feature of the programme will be the draping on a. model of three different dresses, by Mr. Fancourt, whose cleverness with an uncut length of material and a few pins is well-known. A one-act play will be given by the Sixth Form, while the programme will conclude with a short original comedy, “The Nursing Home,” in which Mrs. T. McKibbii!, Mrs. T. W. Lewis, Miss Constance Morice, Miss Helen Thomson, and Mr. Vivian Rhind, are taking part. Tickets may be obtained trom the performers, Marsden School staff, or the parents’ association.
