GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
Changes in Programme Some alterations have had to be made with regard to the programme for the 1930 golf championships. It has been decided that 68 amateurs can play in the Open Championship instead of 64, together with the 20 professionals as already decided upon. The semi-final of the Professionals’ Championship is to be played on the Wednesday, and the final on the Friday. This will mean that the four professionals in the semi-final will not be able to take place in the professionals' hiiudicap match played on the Wednesday, and, therefore, it has been decided to slightly increase thp prize-money for professionals defeated in the semi-final, and correspondingly reduce the winner’s prizemoney. The prize-money for the Professionals! Championship will now be £4O, £25, £l5, and £l5.
