TRADE AGREEMENTS
Issue at Canadian Elections NEW TREATIES PROBABLE Vancouver, July 24. The Australian and New Zealand trade agreements figure largely in the election which will occur next Monday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Mackenzie King, is espousing the policy of interEmpire trade and Imperial preference with great vigour. The result of the election is very much In doubt. Undoubtedly there is a slump toward the Conservatives and against the Liberals in the other Provinces of Canada, and altogether it appears that Quebec will hold the balance of power. It can be stated that whichever side wins, new and better treaties will probably be attempted with both the Antipodean Dominions, whose trade all classes of business men, whether Liberal or Conservative, are very anxious to maintain.
