The Wanganui Rugby Union has advised the Taihape union that the match to be played in Taihape on August 9 with North Auckland has been changed to Wanganui, the chief reason being the increased “gate” which , will be obtained in Wanganui. The Taihape union will stage the “Town v. Country” match for the McCartin Cup instead. The Rev. F. J. Handy is visiting Wanganui. 1 , All football fixtures have been suspended for next Saturday, due to the third test match in Auckland. A large number of Taihape. residents intend making the trip. „ , . Mrs. F. Read, Kiwi Road, is spending a holiday ,in Auckland. At the Police Court on Tuesday a youth named Frank Wilson Wright, aged 26, was charged with, on or about March 6 and 27, he obtained money from William Brian Simminton by fraud, the sum involved being £7/4/-. Sergeant Joyce, explained that accused was employed ns n canvasser by a Wellington firm of photograph enlargers. By sending down bogus orders he was enabled to collect 9/- commission on each. The bench, comprising Messrs. A. P. Parrett and W. Boole, J.P.’s, admitted Wilson to probation for .1.2 months and ordered the refund of the money.
