CABARET EVENING

The cabaret night arranged for Wednesday next in the Adelphi, by the Wellington Maorilandcrs’ Association, promises to be an outstanding event. The committee is sparing no pains to make the evening n delightful one, and with card games (for which prizes are being offered), dance exhibitions by experts, dancing to a special orchestra, and buffet supper, as well as novelties, the‘function should attract the attention of dancers.

The slogan of the association is “Advance New Zealand—-Buy New Zealand Goods”—and naturally the manufacturers of the city, and all those with the Dominion’s industrial welfare at heart, are interested in the movement. The cabaret night will mark the first social event in Connection with the association’s activities, as well as being the first New Zealanders’ cabaret night held in Wellington, and it is hoped there will be a big muster of patrons, who are assured of a happy evening. < Details are advertised as to where tickets may be obtained. Ballroom danCCs and the latest tap-dancing steps will be demonstrated by Miss Phyllis Houghton and partner, and Miss Davidson and partner.

The staff of John Duthie and Company held its annual dance in the Kelburn Kiosk on a recent evening. The hall was decorated with blue and yellow streamers, and the Kit Kat Orchestra provided the dance music. The committee consisted of Miss Hodgins, who wore black lace and floral bridge coat; Miss White, flame georgette: Miss Laycock, bjue crepe-de-chine and taffeta; Miss Orme, lemon taffeta; Miss Luke, red satin; Miss Churchliotise, jade green satin; -Miss Affleck. blaeit taffeta; and Messrs. Knight, Wynne, Aked and Jack. Mr. Wynne was secretary.
