PROVINCIAL ITEMS

Mr. and Mrs. P. Dranslield, of Pahiatua, have been visiting Wairoa and Napier. Sirs. R. Skipworth, who has been the guest, of her mother, Mrs. J. Knight, of Selwyn Street, 'Wanganui, has returned to her home in Dannevirke. Mrs. P. Mclntyre, of Mangaonolio, late of Castlecliff, is in Hobson Street Hospital Wellington, and is recovering from an operation. The Hawera branch of the women’s division of the Farmers’ Union held a ball recently, and the proceeds were devoted to buying a cup, to be known as the “W.D.F.U. Cup.” This cup is for competition by the Boys’ and Girls’ Calf Club at Matipo. Mrs. W. G. Patterson (Manaia) has been the guest of Mrs. C. V. Powell. Miss Barbie Millsom (Southland) paid a short visit to Wanganui en route to the north. Mrs. H. G. Brodie, who has been staying in New Plymouth and Wanganui, has returned to Nelson. Mrs. A. Haworth leaves this week for a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs. Dawson, Dannevirke, has been the guest of Mrs. A. E. Cowper, “Lyneaivne.” Mrs. W. Peat has returned to Wanganui from Wellington. Mrs. Sydney Addenbrooke, who has been in Wanganui for some weeks, has returned to her home at Stratford. Mrs. Honeyman has returned to Marton from Wanganui. Miss J. Granger and Mr. B. Pithcthley have been appointed delegates to the forthcoming hockey conference in Wellington. Miss J. Sewell, Napier, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Sewcl), Wanganui. Miss Wilkie is a Wellington visitor to Wanganui. Mesdames Gardner, Goldsmith, Raymond, Misses Bowler, Halligan, Gardner, M. Gardner, Douslas, Sutton, Armstrong. Messrs. M. Hartwell, J. Reid, and B. Nixon were Wanganui visitors to Waitotarn on Wednesday evening, when a carnival dance Was held.

Masterton ladies should on no account fail to visit the great exhibition of‘highgrade Russian and Canndan Furs which is at present being held in the Central Arcade Hall (upstairs) for a few days only.
