OVERSEAS LINERS
Tahiti Now Due Tuesday
REMUERA ON MONDAY
Delayed for nearly 24 hours at Rarotonga owing to heavy weather, the R.M.S. Tahiti did not leave there until Wednesday morning for Wellington in continuation of her voyage from San Francisco, instead of on Tuesday afternoon. The Union Company yesterday received a wireless message from the Tahiti, reporting that she expected to arrive in the stream at Wellington at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, a day behind her usual time of arrival. The vessel is now timed to leave again at 3 p.m. on Wednesday for Sydney. This is the' third consecutive trip on which the Tahiti’s arrival at Wellington has been delayed by bad weather, but on each of the other runs she arrived early on the Monday afternoon. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Remuera, en route from London to Wellington, via Suv/t, has reported that she can be expected to arrive in the stream at daybreak on Monday. The vessel brings passengers aud cargo, and will later proceed, to Fort Chalmers, Lyttelton, and New Plymouth to complete discharge. The Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Maunganul left Sydney yesterday for Wellington, and is due here on Tuesday morning. She will leave again later the same day for Auckland, and will leave there next Friday for Sydney. The Shaw, Savlll liner Corinthic is another vessel which is meeting with heavy weather. Originally scheduled to reach Wellington on Monday from London and Southampton, via the Panama Canal, she reported earlier in the week that she expected to reach this port at noon next Wednesday. Since then the Corinthic has reported twice that she is encountering a heavy southerly gale with head seas, and it is probable that her arrival will be delayed still further. The vessel brings passengers, mails, and cargo for Wellington.
