A MISSIONARY PAGEANT
The Methodist Women's Missionary Auxiliary held a thanksgiving day yesterday when members from all branches foregathered in the Wesley hall in Taranaki Street In the afternoon over a hundred were present when a devotional address was given by Mrs. Peryman. Thank offerings from all branches were received and totalled over £83.. The Rev. T. R. Richards presided during the afternoon, Mrs. Ray Kemp sang, and Mrs. Mark Tonks recited. At half-past five high tea was served, about forty being present, and in the evening the hall was filled when an entertainment was given which in the form of a pageant entitled “The Light Bearers,” showed the work of the missions. The stage was prettily decorated with fems and greenery, and against this background a chorus of girls in Indian costume representing other missions sang hymns. ' Miss Mavis Rolls gave a recitation and Miss Nicholson sang “Alleluia,” and the pageant closed with a benediction. Luring the evening Miss Glen Carty played a pianoforte solo, Mrs. Ashworth sang, Messrs. Howe and Strong gave a duet. also Mr. and Mrs. Knight, and Mr. J. Watchman recited.
