SAILORS’ FRIEND SOCIETY
At the Sailors’ Friend Society song service on Sunday, opportunity was taken to show appreciation of the services of Mrs. H. G. Good, as organiste, by presenting her " Str; 3 J. 10< Moore, missioner, stressed the point in speaking as to how much they owed Mrs. Good and Messrs. V. Il eston, F. Baker, and J. Parry also received tokens of esteem from those present. Mrs. Good re in°addition to the community singing, a quartette party from Newtown rendered special service. „ . „ The hostesses on Tuesday were the •Misses Coombs and Russell, Before tire presentation of their programme the ml - sioner spoke of the great loss that had befallen the mission in the passing of Sir Robert Stout The whole of the audience stood in silence as a mark of respect to tue deceased statesman. The performers were Mrs. Jackson, the Misses Jovce Richardson, Burnley, Russell. Porter. J. Coombs, and J. Russell. Miss I. Russell was at the piano. Light refreshments were dispensed by hostesses and helpers. . , _ , , . The missioner took for his Tuesday’s subject, “What’s Your Choice?” Pledges were again added to the books. The competitions added to the zest of the evening. Prizes came from the Victoria League and went to the Rotorua, Ferndale and Tamaroa.
