THE TAIL OF A WHALE
There was a very young whale in the Atlantic whose sad fate is told tn a line in the log of the White Star Ilnar Homeric. -
It was dinner time. The passengers were sitting down to a pleasant dinner. The whale, it te surmised, after its own pleasant meal, was enjoying an afterdinner nap. A alight jar was felt by the liner. A very unpleasant jar was felt by the whale. That is all its story except that the liner’s engines had to be backed before the ship and the whale were parted. 1 s ■ George Stephenson said, whan ashed what would happen if a cow strayed to front of hte new locomotive, that it would be very awkward for the eow. It was very awkward for the whale. The march of progress te altogether too much for theee leisurely leviathans of the sea. In the Aretie and Antarctic oceans they are being scattered and dispersed because of the oil they bring, and nowhere can they find a friend. This was said to be a very young whale that had strayed from Ha nett*
