The Christchurch City Council this week handed a cheque for flO—oO. representing the cost of the new women s restroom in Cathedral Square, to the representatives of Mr G. Sevicke Jones, who formerlv owned the building "‘ e "Times”). It is understood that the council will- not be able to obtain possession of the building, until February 1 of next year, but it is hoped to arrange that the tenants vacate the premises before then. , , . Nearly 900 entries have been received by the Department of Agriculture for the potato-rrowing competition to be conducted in connection with the boys and girls’ agricultural clubs recently organised (states the Christchurch ’’Times”). All these entries have come from schools in flic North Canterbury district, ns the officials have not yet had time to organise the other Canterbury and Marlborough districts.
