NELSON CHAMPIONSHIP THE HOLDER DEFEATED Dominion Special Service. Nelson, May 15. The ladies’ provincial gol£ tournament was continued to-,day in fine but dull weather. The chief incident of the day’s play was the defeat of Miss Acheson (holder since 1925) in the semi-finals of the championship by Mrs. Cock, who has been playing steadily all through the tournament. Miss Petrie had no difficulty in disposing of Mrs. Green and will play off the final with Mrs. Cock to-morrow. The following are the results of the championship play;— First round: Miss Petrie beat Miss Gray. 7 and 6; Mrs. Green beat Miss Mackay. 3 and 2; Miss Acheson beat Mrs. Foreman, 4 and 3: Mrs. Cock beat Miss Harkness, 2 and 1. Semi-finals: Miss Petrie beat Mrs. Green, 4 and 2; Mrs. Cock beat Miss Acheson, 3 and 2. TASMAN HANDICAP. The first round of the Tasman Handicap resulted as follows:— Miss Lueas beat Mrs. Harley, 4 and 2; Mrs. Rout beat Miss Hogg, 2 up; Mrs. Leggatt beat Mrs. Milner, 4 and 3; Mrs. Dodson beat Mrs. Thorp, 1 up. Semi-finals: Miss Lucas beat Mrs. Rout, 1 up: Mrs. Leggatt beat Mrs. Dodson. 4 and 2. Mrs. Cock won the senior bogey handicap in the morning, 3 up, and also the afternoon, 2 up. In the junior division Mrs. Wotton won the morning round 1 up and Mrs. Leggatt the afternoon round 1 up.
