The Hon. G. J. Anderson was a passenger on last night’s Limited express for Auckland. The Hon. Sir Thomas Side? (At-torney-General). returned to Welllugton from the South island yesterday morning. . Mr. A. E. Davy returned from Auckland last evening. Sir George Elliot arrived in Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr, H. Warwick Stephenson, of Warnes and Stephenson, Ltd., was the recipient of two framed pictures from the staff and friends on the eve of his marriage recently. Mr. J. W. Niven has been appointed acting-city treasurer for the Christ church City Council. The “acting” is stated to be the council’s precautionary method of making appointments, Mr. Niveu and all those under him who have moved up being appointed for six months “on triai."
