UNPAID FEES
AUCKLAND HOSPITAL POSITION SERIOUS Dominion Special Service. Auckland, May 14. The sum of £24,000 in fees has been written off as uncollectable by the fees committee of the Auckland Hospital Board. About 100 persons were asked by the committee to show why fees had not been paid, and 12 were present. In cases where no satisfactory explanation was forthcoming instructions were given to take proceedings to recover the amount outstanding. Mr. W. Wallace, chairman of the board, stated that this was the usual amount written off every six months. “The position is serious for the board,” said Mr. Wallace. “It is necessary that a good proportion of the fees should be collected in order that the board’s finances can be kept on a stable basis. Accordingly full investigation is made in cases where the full amount of fees is not forthcoming.”
