THROUGH BOOKING
1111 r Figures supplied by the Railway Department indicate that the railway interisland through booking system has proved very useful to people in many and varied lines of business. The class of goods carried ranges from a fragile package to steam-baulers, heavy iron rails, and various descriptions of merchandise, to horses, cattle, dogs and other forms of livestock. It is stated that since the commencement of this through booking system in May, 1925, the tonnage handled has aggregated 45,000. The system is so complete that passengers can not only consign their goods and chattels right through from one rail-connected point in the one island to a rail-connected point in the other island, but can book themselves through and arrange all reservations for sleeping berths, seats, etc., right at the commencing point.
