Mr. C. 111. K. Alecock, son of Mr. J. C. Alecock, Westmere, Wanganui, has been admitted as an Associate Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers. Mr. Alecock was a pupil at Wanganui Technical College, taking the engineering course, and is now connected with the Auckland-Westfield railway deviation works. Mr. C. 11. Eggleton, of the Wanganui Telegraph Office staff, was farewelled yesterday prior to his departure for Auckland. Mr. Eggleton has been 10 years in the Wanganui office, and in making him a presentation Mr. W. Jarvie, senior supervisor, referred to the high esteem in which Mr. Eggleton was held by all.. A farewell dinner was held nt Foster’s Hotel. Wanganui, on Thursday night in honour of Mr. C. G. Ross, who has retired from the position of head of the seed department, of Wright, Stephenson and Co., to take up farming. Farmer clients of the firm representing many districts were present, and Mr. D. Mackintosh presided. “The Guest of the Evening” was proposed by Mr. W. Glenn, who spoke of Mr. Ross's personal influence in the firm. An entree dish from bis farmer friends was presented by Mr. Mackintosh. Mr. Ross thanked those present for their kindly thoughts.
