GOLDEN WEDDING
At Geraldine on Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Simmons celebrated the fif- . tieth anniversary of their wedding, which took place at the parish church, Rustinglace, Sussex, England, on April 10. 1880. The vicar, the Rev. Edmond Stansfield, performed the ceremony. Mrs. Simmons was the youngest daughter of Mr. Thomas Dudman, of Aidwick, Bognor, Sussex, while Mr. Simmons was a native of Maidstone, Kent. After spending the greater portion of their married life in Sussex they came to New Zealand eighteen years ago, when they settled in Geraldine, where Mr. Simmons has been engaged in fruit raising and market gardening. There have been four children of the marriage, but a daughter died in England, and of the three sons, Mr. T. J. B. Simmons lives at Motukarara, Mr. Gordon Simmons lives in Christchurdh, and Mr. Norman Simmons in Geraldine. There are twelve grandchildren.
With the ever increasing popularity of artistic colour schemes in the home to-day, nothing can add greater charm and distinction, be it to the drawingroom, lounge or bedroom than that of delicately coloured lacquered furniture. Not only is this exquisite craftsmanship greatly admired and in demand in Continental and American homes, but it is now becoming quite a vogue with people who appreciate unusual and yet extremely serviceable furniture. ' A remarkably handsome bedroom suite, lacquered in pale gold, with floral design in delicate shades of pink and green is attractively displayed at the Wayside Studio, 113 Molesworth Street. Such a suite as this, combined with correct bedroom furnishings would make a delightful ensemble. A feature at present at the studio hi the many charming objects of art now showing for Easter and other gift purposes.—Advt.
