ISLAND BAY CROQUET CLUB
The Island Bay Municipal Croquet Club held its closing ceremony last Thursday in the presence of a good attendance of members. The greater part of the afternoon was pleasantly spent in competitions, which resulted as follow: Mat, Mrs. McCarty; French, Mrs. Halley ; angles, Mrs. Winchcomb; target, Mrs. Beveridge; peg, Mrs. Breeze; golf, Mrs. Sharland. During the afternoon tea interval the president (Mrs. Small) presented the trophies won in the club matches. The successful competitors were:— Club champion, Mrs. Breeze; runnerup, Mrs. Sears. Handicap singles (“A” section), Mrs. Sears; runner-up, Mrs. Halley. Championship (“B” section), Mrs. Ross; runner-up, Mrs. Coe. Handicap singles (“B” section), Mrs. Ross; runner-up, Mrs. Vickery. At the conclusion of the afternoon Mrs. McDonald, the vice-president, spoke of the work done by the club’s officers during the season, and on behalf of the members presented the president (Mrs. Small), the club captain (Mrs. Breeze), treasurer (Mrs. Winchcomb), and the secretary (Mrs. Shorland) with tokens of appreciation.
