ASTUTE DETECTIVE
DELAYS MARRIAGE TO CATCH A THIEF (Rec. January 26, 5.5 p.m.) Madrid, January 24'. Braulio Santos, an astute detective employed on the Spanish railways, caught a thief while marrying a wife. He was kneeling at the altar with his bride when to the astonishment of all he suddenly checked the officiating priest, rushed from the altar, and pounced on a man in the congregation, whom he arrested on a charge of stealing a purse from a woman sitting alongside. The thief was locked up, the woman regained her purse, and Santos returned to his waiting bride, apologised all round, and was married without further interruption.
