NORTH ISLAND MEETING By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, December 29. The North Island championship rifle shoooting meeting concluded on Putiki Range at Wanganui on Saturday. A high north-past wind made shooting difhcult, but some exceptionally good scores were returned. Captain A. Neilson, of Napier, retained the championship belt with 327 points; Rifleman T. Orr, of Greytown, was second with 320; and Rifleman J. Patterson, of Wanganui, third with 317. , T n rn In the Manawatu match J. G. Lurnbull (New Plymouth) and N. Green (Okawa) were equal first with 49 points. D. Calder (Akarana) was third. The Hawke’s Bay Match resulted in a win for F. C. Hogg (Wanganui). T. Orr (Greytown) was second, and D. P. T. Goodall (Suburbs) third. The optional aggregate ended in a victory for Captain A. Neilson. J. Patterson (Wanganui) was second and T. Orr (Greytown) third. The North Island teams’ match resulted in a victory for the Wanganui team. Petone were second and Opaki third. T. Orr, of Greytown, won the Marybank aggregate. The tyro championship was won by A. S. Berryman, of Dannevirke.
