THE CHRISTMAS' EVE DISMISSALS
MINISTER EXPRESSES REGRET
The latest development in connection with the Christmas Eve dismissal of casual employees from the Hutt railway workshops was the receipt by Mr. W. Nash, M.P. for the Hutt, yesterday of a telegram of regret from the chairman of the Cabinet Employment Committee (Hon. G. W. Forbes). “I am sorry to hear of the dismissal of the men from the railway workshops, owing, I understand, to the work they were engaged on being finished,” said the Minister in his message. “I have communicated with the employment officer asking him to see if further work can be found.”
Commenting on the Minister’s message, Mr. Nash'said he intended to pursue the matter nntily something had been done for the men dismissed.
