HOLIDAY TRAFFIC
MASTERTON DESERTED.
Masterton, December 27.
Both inward and outward traffic has been exceptionally heavy during the past four days at the Masterton Railway Station, while road traffic also has been large. Since Christmas Eve, Masterton, in comparison to its normal self, has been practically deserted, a fact which probably is accounted for in the number of Christmas attractions that h..ve been offering in nearby towns —Carterton, Wellington, and Palmerston North. Passenger booking receipts at the Masterton Station exceed last year’s figures, and since the opening date of the excursion rates, receipts total £92S as against £902 for the same period last year.
