SCHOOL JOURNALS

SOME BRIGHT PRODUCTIONS. The close of the year sees the issue of a number of school magazines, ami several have already reached this office for review. “The Scindian,” the Napier Boys’ High School magazine, is an interesting publication of some 180 pages, which records the activities of the school during the past year and contains much original matter, which shows that the pupils are taught not only to use their imaginations but to express tbeir thoughts lucidly. The thirty-seventh volume of “The Scindian” is illustrated with photographs of winning teams and views of school activities, which should make it particularly interesting to old boys. “The Memnoninn.” the magazine of the Wellington East Girls’ College, makes its bow to the world and quite a creditable entrance it is. This 90 page, at-tractively-got-up production reveals that the college did very well in class and on the playing fields during the year. The original articles and sketches show distinst promise and numerous illustrations brighten the pages. “The Memnonian” is of sufficient literary merit to entitle it to take its place with credit' amongst the existing school journals. Volume 3 of “The Heretaungan,” the magazine of the Hastings High School, contains 122 pages of brightly-written records of school doings during the year. The articles and verse show much originality, and many illustrations further brighten a most interesting volume.
