NEW CHEESE FACTORY OPENED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Whakafane. November .28. The new cheese factory at liuatoki was opened yesterday by Sir Apirana Ngata in the presence of a large gathering of pakehas and natives. Tlie building, in ferro-concrete, is modern in every respect, and cost £6OOO. The plant cost £3OOO. Sir Apirana-Ngata stated that as the result of recent legislation, it was intended to assist the natives of Ruatoki by consolidating their titles, thus enabling them to raise finance to purchase entile, grass seed, and manures. Mr. Walter Reid, chairman of the Opouriao and Ruatoki Dairy Company, referred to the capacity of the native farmers as suppliers. With financial assistance, he said, they would bo enabled to improve their farms and increase production.
