At Cheyenne, a youthful bandit wrecked a Union Pacific passenger train by pulling the spikes from the rails and then, single-handed, lined up and robbed forty passengers, obtaining £lOOO in money and jewels. “I have a wife and two kids, and the railway won’t give me a job, so I’m going to take it anyway,” said the robber, jabbing the ribs of one fat passenger with a revolver. Nobody was injured when five ears were derailed, but the lepair bill will exceed £lO,OOO.
