LATE MR. A. F. LOWE

INTERMENT AT KARORI All sections of the community were represented at the funeral of the late Mr. A. F. Lowe, C.M.G., on Saturday morning, the large attendance testifying to the high esteem in which he was held. A service was held at St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, .the interment taking place at Karori. Canon P. James conducted the service, and also officiated at th'e graveside. The principle mourners were the widow of the late Mr. Lowe, his three sons, Messrs. F. K., Anthony, and R. O. Lowe, and a brother, Mr. H. J. Lowe. Those present at the funeral included the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Sir Charles Statham), the Speaker of the Legislative Council (Sir Walter Carncross), the Minister of Lands and Agriculture (Hon. G. W. Forbes), Minister of Labour (Hon. W. A. Veitch), the Attorney-General and the Leader of the Legislative Council (Hon. T. K. Sidey), the Right Hon. Sir Robert Stout, P.C., M.L.C., the Hon. Dr. W. E. Collins, M.L.C., the Hon. Sir William Hall-Jones, M.L.C., the permanent head of the Prime Minister’s Department (Mr. F. D. Thomson (C.M.G.), Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P., Sir John Luke, the Assistant Clerk of the Legislative Council (Mr. A. M. Bothamley), the Assistant Clerk of the House of Representatives (Mr. W. Dasent), Hansard Supervisor (Mr. P. Brandon), chief of Hansard staff (Mr. A. E. Briggs), the president of the Nelson Old Boys’ Association (Mr. G. W. Barltrop), the president of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society (Mr L. 0. H. Tripp), the DirectorGeneral of Agriculture (Dr. C. J. Reakes), the engineer-in-chief of the Public Works Department (Mr. F. W. Furkert), Messrs. E. C. Wiffin, J. Fleming, L. Reid, and many others, including a large number from the Government Departments. Many floral emblems were received; including wreaths and messages of sympathy, from: —Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Day, the Prime Minister and his colleagues of the Ministry, the Speaker and members of the Legislative Council, the Speaker, Clerk and officers of the House of Representatives, members of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, the Law Drafting Office, Mr. F. D. Thomson, the Hon. E. W. Alison, M.L.C., Librarian and staff of the General Assembly Library, private secretaries to Ministers of the Crown, the Right Hon. Sir Frances Bell, P.C., M.L.C., the Parliamentary Press Gallery, the Hansard staff, messengers and staff Legislative Council, Mr. and Mrs. Langbrun. Mr. and Mrs. J. Christie, Mr. G. A. Butts, .Mr. and Mrs. A. M’Kinnon, and Dr. and Mrs. Harty.
