» — PHAR LAP’S VICTORIA DERBY NIGHTMARCH BEATEN IN MELBOURNE STAKESCARTERTON AND BANKS PENINSULA RESULTS The main interest in the Racing World on Saturday centred in the opening day of the Victoria Racing Club’s spring meeting ’ when Phar Lap continued his all-conquering career and won the V.R.C. Derby, in record time. Nightmarch was beaten into third place in the Melbourne Stakes, but was close up in fast time. Nearer home the Carterton and Banks Peninsula meetings occupied attention. Rabbi won the Wairarapa County Cup and Atholspear scored in the sprint. At the Banks Peninsula meeting the principal handicap was won by Quarterdeck.
