DRY OCTOBER IN NELSON
CROPS BADLY NEDD RAIN. Dominion Special Service. Nelson, November 1. The month, of October has been one of the driest on record over a period of forty-six years. Only a little over an inch and a half has been recorded, against an average of three inches and a half. On the last two days of the month welcome rai.n fell, and will do an immense amount of good throughout the district, but more is needed. The pea crops ini some parts suffered from the dry spell, while tobacco lands-which are now being put out need rain to them a start.
