COAL DISPUTE IN NEW SOUTH WALES

CONFERENCE OF PARTIES SUMMONED GOVERNMENT MAY TAKE OVER MINES (United Press Association. — By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Rec. November 1, 10.40 p.m.) Sydney, November L • A compulsory conference of parties to the coal dispute will be held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Mr. Hibble, J.P., who has had long experience of coal disputes and who has figured in a number of strike settlements.

Another development to-day is the announcement that the Bavin Government may take over a number of coalmines in the event of Mr. nibble’s activities proving abortive, and reopen them, but whether by union or free labour is not yet disclosed. Mr. Bavin stated that a number of industries were in a parlous condition, and the mines must be opened very soon to avert the disaster which threatened them.
