THE CHANNEL TUNNEL
COMMITTEE NOT REACHED DECISION (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. November 1, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, October 31. Statements were published yesterday that the committee appointed last March by Mr. Baldwin to consider the economic aspects of the Channel tunnel was about to submit a report to the Government, the conclusions of which were unfavourable to the tunnel as a commercial proposition. It is now officially stated that the committee has reached an advanced stage of its inquiry, but has not in fact come to any decision on the terms of its report.
