SHOW WEEK AT PALMERSTON NORTH

On Wednesday next the Spring Show will open at Palmerston North. The special attractions will be a steer-riding contest, military tattoo, physical culture display, the oval being specially lighted for the evening attractions. The steer-riding contest is something entirely new to Palmerston North, and should prove to be ail that is expected of it in the matter of excitement. Over forty steers have been procured for the contest, which should last for well over an hour. On People's Bay, Friday, special day excursion tickets will be issued from. Taihape, Wanganui, Thorndon, Waipukurau and Masterton, while over the whole period of the show excursion fares will be available oyer the greater part of the North Island. The military tattoo will be held on Friday evening, the following units taking part in the parade: Manawatu Mounted Rifles, 7th and Bth Batteries N.Z. Artillery, and the Palmerston North Senior Cadets. Ine oval has been specially lighted for this event. The Palmerston Nortii Y.M.C.A. will take charge of the entertainment hall of Thursday night, and will demonstrate the physical fitness of the youth of Pal* merston North. The show will open on Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, and will continue until Friday, the show being open until 10 p.m. each day.
