Wanganui, November L The work of demolishing the top story of the Wanganui Technical College is-pro-gressing rapidly, and it is hoped that the building will be ready for use at the beginning of the school year, 1030. One wing is now getting its roof on, the top story having been all removed. The Health Camp held for many years on Mr. B. P. Lethbridge’s property, Ann Bank,” Turakina, will not be held tins year owing to the death of Mr. Lethbridge. The prescutation of trophies of the Patea Men’s Golf Club took place at the club’s annual smoke concert as follows: Club championship, W. D. Reilly ; Remuera Cup, G. Wills; ruuner-up, W. D. Reilly; junior championship, E. P. Gilbert; run-ner-up, I. lloneyfield; C grade championship, C. Harris; runner-up, T. Sheaban. The Wanganui primary schools will hold their annual sports on November 8. The combined Presbyterian Bible classes from Wanganui, Westmere, Taihape, Palmerston North, Feilding, Marton, and lurakina held their annual gathering at lurakina on Monday. On arrived at lurakiua they learnt of the death of Mr. B. I. Lethbridge, and as this gathering is alwavs held In his grounds other plans had to be made. The Turakina hall was hired and the old grounds belonging to the former Maori College were used. Very fine addresses were given in the morning by the Bev. Bandy, and Mr. V. French, from Flock House. In the afternoon sports were held and St. Paul’s (Wanganui) succeeded in winning the banner. exciting contest at basketball was that between Turakina Maori Girls College and St. Andrew’s (Wanganui). For three years these two teams have fought for supremacy, and this year the Maori girls won the coveted cup, which was presented by Mrs. Reid at the loncluslon of the games.
