WANGANUI AIRPORT

ROAD GRANT OF £2300 Wanganui, November 1. In view of the delay in granting an application through the Public Works Department to have a road constructed to the airport site at Landguard Bluff, it was resolved at a meeting yesterday of the Airport Committee to send the following telegram to the Hon.’ W. A. Veitch : "Airport Committee meeting today resolved that the want of road access to the site of Wanganui’s airport is retarding Dominion aviation. Arrangements have been made for a site and the committee considers that the road access should be put in hand at once. Citizens are becoming restive and the committee urges that Cabinet approve of the application made to the Government to undertake the construction of the road without delay. This is a national airport.” Mr. Veitch telegraphed this afternoon that the sum of £2300 had been granted by -Cabinet to the -Wanganui County Council for the construction of the road.
