CHARING CROSS
NEW STATION ON SOUTH SIDE OF THAMES (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. October 31, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, October 30. The Minister of Transport made a statement in the House of Commons regarding the construction of a new Charing Cross .Station on the south side of the Thames, to replace the present station on the north side. He said that before the construction of the new station could be commenced it would be necessary to clear the site and provide housing accommodation for people of the working class who would be displaced. It was estimated that the construction of the new station would take not less than five years from the date of the Royal assent to the Bill which was being introduced this session.
