SWIMMING

WELLINGTON CLUB. The Wellington Amateur Swimming Club held its annual meeting on Tuesday night, Mr. E. Vango presiding. The annual report stated that the year had been a successful one,' though the membership had shown a slight falling off. The club had lost both its captain, Mr. L. G. Leask, and its vice-captain, Mr. G. A. Rix-Trott, both having been transferred to Auckland. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. J. P. Maxwell; vice-presidents, Mr. R. A. Wright. M.P., the Mayor (Mr. G. A, Troup), Captain Watson, and Messrs. W. Cowan, R. A. Nicol, and W. Gellate; secretary, Mr. J. C. Blakeley; treasurer, Mr. J. Lawson; club captain, Mr. B. Mclvor; vice-captain, Mr. L. Baker; junior captain. Mr. B. Gellate; committee. Messrs. J. Penman. R. Johnson, M. Spry, A. Kelly, E. Vango. N. McCartney, «T. McNie, W. Look, and H. Davies; handicapper, Mr. J. Calnan; auditor. Mr. W. G. Morpeth; delegates to Wellington Centre, N.Z. Swimming Association, Messrs. W. J. Look and A. Kelly. The opening day will be held- on November 30. The same programme as last year will be followed, except that the 50 vards inter-club handicap will be deleted, and in the event of the centre not putting on an inter-club _ event, a committee will consider the situation.
