Cairo, October 3.
Stating that his object was to enable King Fuad to bring the AngloEgyptian Treaty to a successful conclusion, Mahmoud Pasha has resigned amid great rejoicing in the Wafdist camp.
It is not yet decided whom King Fuad will summon to form a Ministry for the purpose of superintending the elections, but among those mentioned is the King’s father-in-law, Abdelrahim Pasha.
There is every prospect of . a lively campaign being conducted with more than the usual deluge of Egyptian oratory. Nahas Pasha had three interviews with Sir Percy Loraine, the High Commissioner, when it is understood he promised that the treaty as drafted will form the basis of the elections. The Wafd is almost certain to obtain an overwhelming majority at the elections. It remains to be seen whether they then will abandon their demand for complete independence. ADLY PASHA JOINS CABINET Australian Press Association. (Rec. October 3, 7.40 p.m.) Cairo, October 3. Adly Pasha, the ex-Prime Minister, has agreed to form a temporary Cabinet.
