MISHAP WITH BENZINE
WOMAN SEVERELY BURNED. A woman had part of her clothing burned off and suffered severe burns yesterday morning when a fire broke out at 11 Ballance Street, Kilbirnie. , _ The fire brigade received the call just after 11 o’clock. The house is a sixroomed wooden building, owned and occupied by Mrs. Mabel Elliott. It is understood that Mrs. Elliott was dipping curtains in benzine when the vapour became ignited. The contents of the washhouse were damaged by fire and water, and Mrs. Elliott was badly burned on the left side of the face nnd on her left forearm and leg. Members of the brigade rendered her first aid . . The contents of the house were insured in the New Zealand Insurance office for £l5O, ami the building for £6OO in the same office.
