At Forest Hills Kozeluh won the national professional tennis championship on Saturday, defeating Richards, 6—4, 6—4, 4—6, 4—6, 7—5.

NEW INTER-CLUB SYSTEM

The Management Committee of the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association met last night to consider the question of conducting inter-club matches for the'coming season. It was decided that the inter-club competitions be conducted in two sections, Section A to be run on a challenge system, and Section B to be governed by rules similar to those in force during the past season. Section A shall consist of teams of senior and junior status, which will be divided into three groups. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of each group. In this section the Management Committee will decide the group in which clubs may challenge. All matches in this group will be three sets, last set advantage, the matches to include singles, doubles, and combined doubles. Teams are to be composed of four ladies, and four men. Teams of the status required for this section must lodge their challenges in writing on or before October 19. Challenges accompanied by a challenge fee of 15s. must be lodged with the honorary secretary, Mr. W. B. Watson The defenders will be required to pay a match fee of 7s. 6d. in defence of eaeh challenge. Defending teams must be prepared to play every Saturday. Section B shall consist of clubs of third and fourth-grade status, and shall be divided into three groups. Entries for this section will be limited to two teams from each club. Entries close with the honorary secretary on October 19. Entrance fees for this section will be £1 for each team for the season. After the next meeting of the Management Committee, to be held next week, clubs will receive complete rules and conditions governing the matches. The committee should shortly be in a position to make a definite announcement regarding the proposed grandstand accom modation at Miramar grounds. The majority of the affiliated clubs have definitely intimated their willingness to support, the grandstand scheme, and several donations have been received.
