IRISH LAND PAYMENTS
THREAT OF REPUDIATION DE VALERA’S INTENTION Australian Press Assn.—United Service. London, September 29. In a speech at Enfield, Mr. de Valera announced the Intention of the Fianna Fail to repudiate payments to England under the land annuities arrangement. “We are determined,” he said, “that this money, equal to 4s. lOd. in the £ of Irish revenue, shall not leave the country when we ever have a majority. We believe it is ours as a right, and we mean to stick to it.” Mr. de Valera added that he would not make such a statement without excellent legal advice. The sum of £2,000,000 would provide for derating farmers.
