STRANDED GERMAN LINER
LITTLE CHANCE OF SALVAGE Australian Pres® Association. Colombo, September 29. Hopes of saving the stranded German liner Hochst are steadily diminishing. Depressing reports have been received from the Hercules and Olivia. After a strenuous week's fight day and night, water is rushing through holes in the ship’s sides. The crew is completely exhausted, and cannot hold on to the pumps much longer. There is danger of the vessel breaking up, as the weather Is rough and she is pushed further on to the rocks. Attempts to tow her off have failed, as the hawsers parted.
