CRISIS LIKELY TO END IMMEDIATELY
CABINET CLEAVAGE DECREASING

The “Daily Chronicle’s" Cairo correspondent states that the crisis in connection with the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty will end on Tuesday. Even the Wafd party feels the crisis cannot be allowed to continue.
King Fuad had hours of conversation with Mustapha, the Wafd’s President, following lunch at Sir Percy Lorraine, the High Commissioner’s house. Other British officials were in communication with the Prime Minister, suggesting that the cleavage between the Wafd and Cabinet is decreasing. The Wafd wishes free elections for the new Parliament on the basis of universal suffrage, with a neutral Cabinet in office during the elections for the purpose. Members of Cabinet, however, declare they have no desire to hang on to the office if there is any certitude of the British Treaty being ratiIt is widely recognised that the Important thing is to get the Treaty accepted, so that commonsense and goodwill are likely to prevail.
